On September 23rd, I accepted an offer from the Department of Homeland Security, with FEMA. In true Federal form, they've been busily processing paperwork...mountains of it, which they've created...all at the behest of the system which we the people, have allowed to be created. I'm a patriot, from a big urban region, no matter what Sarah Palin may think of me. I just wonder if this government of the people, by the people and for the people will ever get THE People to engage in and support real reforms from Leaders, who can simplify the issues and build anew...because as a patriot and first generation American, I love pure organic growth...it just seems to happen in fits and starts.
So back to this position I've accepted. I'm awaiting a few background checks to be completed...y'know the usual FBI, FEMA and DHS. ah yes, life in the patriotic world of government acronyms. I'll be in the thick of it! I can even see my blue veins pumping with red blood...more proof that I'm a progressive centrist! When time and circumstance mandates a move to the right, as in fiscal policy or to the left, as in energy policy...I believe in moving around obstacles right or left, to get back on track or hopefully in the center of the lane on this highway of American life.
Look it's nearly 4:30 am, we all know that I'm verbose, heck I'm an ESFP on the Myer's Briggs scale today. Last month, I was an ENFJ/P. Ha...clearly what I've learned from taking all these tests...I'm still me...on a scale of 1 - not me.... to 10 - all me...I'm a 10!
Wrapping it up, since I want to get some calls in before I start the day, I'm blogging to keep you posted on my adventures/whereabouts. This much I know:
- I'll be off to Washington, D.C. for a couple of weeks of orientation/indoctrination
- Followed with baptism by fire in Baton Rouge, LA to close out FEMA contracts from Katrina.
- With an assignment to follow in another active disaster site (MS, LA or maybe Galveston/Houston area)
