lazing in the lair

I'm here in Reading, PA at Falcon's Lair. It's my Cadre Manager's castle. He invited his group from this training session we're attending to enjoy the weekend here. It's a nice treat to get away from the Training Center and enjoy the area.

We arrived here around 7pm last night and after a week of eating cafeteria style, we all wanted to eat real food. So we stopped along the way, did some shopping and I survived the grocery store sticker shock. People let me tell you...we are spoiled in California!! A package of basil cost $5.29 and it wasn't as aromatic as what we're used to. Chicken breasts were $4.89 a lb, buy one get one free, pine nuts ran $5.99 for 2 oz and broccoli was $2.99 a crown! It didn't stop us though...we were going to eat well. I got in the kitchen and dinner was on the table before 8pm. This morning I let Rich make breakfast, Belgian waffles, omelets and sausage. Yes, Jack...W a f f l e s! :)

I'm lazily spending the day here at Falcon's Lair in the company of my new friends and members of Rich's cadre. It's quite the team building activity. I feel very fortunate to work with a group who will have my back out in the field. I was told that FEMA is an agency that is like one big family. When we get there on site, all we have is each other in the toughest of circumstances. I'm proud to have this opportunity and relax with these great folks!
