Resurrecting my thoughts on this space....

It's another day in the neighborhood....or not! I'm here in Oklahoma City, working the winter storms and tornadoes they experienced back in February. Just when i thought things were winding down and I'd be heading home, last Thursday this town started to go up in flames. More than 100 homes burned to the ground and other facilities were damaged from the raging winds.

This town seriously blows!

Seriously last Thursday the winds were clocked at 50+mph. I found myself being blown about trying to get to my car. This place has extreme weather and for the life of me I can't understand why anyone lives here...of course, I'm not a farmer or interested in being one. I'm lazy and that's just hard work....too many variables also, like weather, the price of your commodity when you bring it to market, tax laws, vet bills etc. If only it were as easy as putting a seed in the ground or just letting the cows out to pasture. One of my favorite conversations is when I hear a baby boomer nostalgic with what they are going to do when they retire and talk about getting land and working it. HA! is all I have to say....I can barely keep up with my postage stamp yard in California complete with dog and cat. It keeps me more busy than I like.

One of the things I've noticed as I travel this land we call the US of A, is that the roads are a complete mess. So many have fallen into disrepair as communities siphon the Federal Hwy funds they receive and put them into their General Funds to keep their communities and local governments afloat. I think Obama has it right to give the Stimulus back to the local governments to fix their roads and such. Here's an email from Sue that I found interesting:

The website below shows where your money will go.
These projects are not part of the stimulus bill. They are candidates for funding by federal grant programs once the bill passes. You get to vote on the project and whether or not it is critical.

Well I'm going to head out to Shepler's, a western store and shop for some sassy boots. That's one thing that's useful to do while I'm here. I do try to make the best of my time when I'm away from home, but working really takes up much of my time and space....and considering the state of this economy that's a good thing!

Have a Hoppy Easter!
