we hold these truths...

I have so much to be grateful for not the least of which is being an American! I was made in Holland, yes a li'l Dutch treat, then born here in the U.S.of A...just like many of our nations pilgrims.

This is my motherland, where I grew and formed into the woman I am today via the amazing blessings afforded to me as a citizen in this time.

I love being a woman, I've said it before...to be one in this country and in this day and age is something I hold dear. I've been fortunate to be afforded education, pursue a career in aircraft maintenance, raise and provide for my children, own property, have an opinion and write to my elected officials with praise and criticism. I still cherish being able to fly my country's flag on my front yard. Did you know that citizen's of other democracies such as in England and Western Europe don't even have this same right? I know?!!!

I can be proud and express it. I also can be critical and protest, even in an unfathomable manner and you know what?...my constitution protects my right to do so. For the most part I have control over my uterus and my ability to procreate and should I fall short on the job, there is a legal system that will protect me in my weakest hour.

This is a wonderful country with incredible bounty. It is also growing bigger and needs to carefully be managed. I understand the great need for me to be a cognizant citizen and proactively take my liberties to heart.

My prayer on this 234th anniversary of Our Independence is that you will too! :)
